Job Description

Astute's Power Team are currently recruiting a Mechanical Package Manager to join the Lead Contractor on the new build Plastic Recycling Facility based in Runcorn for 6 months (Outside IR35)
The Mechanical Package Manager position comes with a day rate from 400.00 to 475.00 per day.
Role responsibilities and key skills for the role:

  • Oversee all mechanical work packages (e.g. shredders, conveyors, extruders, piping, and rotating equipment) from design through to commissioning and handover.
  • Collaborate with civil, electrical, process, and automation teams to ensure integrated design and installation across disciplines.
  • Review and approve mechanical design documents, drawings, and specifications; ensure compliance with project standards and UK regulations.
  • Attend site regularly during installation and commissioning phases to monitor progress, quality, and resolve technical issues.
  • Track progress of packages against key project milestones; proactively address delays and risk to ensure delivery on schedule.
  • Ensure all mechanical works are planned and executed in line with Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations and company standards.
  • Monitor mechanical package budgets, manage variations and change control, and support the project QS team with cost forecasting.
  • Provide regular updates to the project manager and client, maintain accurate documentation and ensure traceability.
  • Experience working in the Waste to Energy Industry is an essential requirement
  • Coordinate mechanical commissioning activities, support functional testing, and assist in troubleshooting and resolving punch list items.
