We are looking for an enthusiastic specialist to join our rapidly growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to work across our new STEM & Health Centre in Bodmin, and our specialist Engineering facilities at our Truro Campus. This role will focus on the delivery, assessment and development of engineering apprentices, including taking a lead on assessing in the workplace, liaising with employers, and assisting learners in their development. In addition, you may be involved with delivering programmes for apprentices and/or vocational learners, alongside the responsibility for further developing our qualifications and commercial business in this sector.
The ideal candidate will have:
An engineering background in either mechanical, maintenance, or aerospace manufacturing.
Extensive knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, system control, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
Proven experience with preventative maintenance techniques and the maintenance of mechanical/electrotechnical systems.
An understanding of ISO9001 or AS9100 and engineering quality assurance.
Previous experience of welding and fabrication processes would be an advantage.
Preferably, the successful candidate will also:
Have relevant and recent teaching and industrial experience.
Hold A1 assessor status (or equivalent) or be willing to work towards this qualification.
Be familiar with awarding bodies such as EAL and C&G.
Have a good understanding of modern manufacturing/maintenance technology and processes.
Possess the ability to motivate, support, and encourage learners at all levels.
A full clean driving license and your own transport is essential, as a significant part of the role will involve visiting employers and apprentices in the workplace.
