We are looking for a proactive Media Relations Officer to join UWE Bristol's Media Relations team and enhance the reputation of the university through positive external media activity.

This role will play a key part in supporting the university's media relations activity - both proactive and reactive. The post holder will also be responsible for important administrative duties to support the day-to-day running of the press office.

We're looking for an individual with a keen eye for spotting a newsworthy story who can identify opportunities for our academics to share their expertise with media.

You'll help to build and protect the university's reputation by securing positive media coverage, and maintain strong relationships with journalists and internal stakeholders.

The role sits within the Student Recruitment and Marketing department and will work collaboratively with multiple teams across the department and wider institution, reporting to the Head of Media Relations.

About you

You're an excellent communicator, with experience working with media.

You're an organised individual and can balance multiple pieces of activity at once, taking responsibility for important duties that support the day-to-day function of the Media Relations team.

As an enthusiastic individual, you'll be keen to find compelling news stories that support the university's communications strategy. You'll bring excellent writing skills, with proven experience working with media to secure impactful coverage.

You're skilled at working reactively to short deadlines, to support the team in responding to press enquiries, while staying on top of the news agenda to spot comment opportunities for UWE Bristol academics.

You'll monitor and evaluate the university's media coverage, producing reports for the media team to share with senior colleagues across the university.
