About Us
We are a busy, friendly Gp Practice serving approximately 7200 patients in the Newry area. Our team is dedicated to providing high quality patient care in a supportive and professional environment. We are now seeking an enthusiastic and organised Medical Receptionist to join our front of house team.
The Role
As a key member of our reception team, you will be the first point of contact for patients, both in person and over the phone. You will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth day to day running of the practice by managing appointments, maintaining accurate records and supporting the clinical team.
Key Responsibilities
Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with duty rota
Greet and assist patients in a courteous, efficient and confidential manner
Handle incoming calls and patient enquiries professionally and signposting patients to correct services
Manage appointment bookings and repeat prescription requests
Update and maintain patient records on our Emis Clinical system
Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, coding and scanning documents
Process patient correspondence, referrals and test results as required
Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, MDT staff and administrative staff to support the practice operations.
There may be a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent on workload and staffing levels
About You
We are looking for someone who is friendly, reliable and comfortable working in a busy patient-focused environment.
Essential Skills and Qualities
Minimum of 5 GCSE's grade c or above including English and Maths
Ability to multitask and prioritise tasks effectively
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong IT and administrative skills
Ability to work well under pressure and manage competing priorities
A team player with a flexible, can-do attitude
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Commitment to patient confidentiality and data protection
Desirable
Previous experience working in a GP practice or healthcare setting
Familiarity with medical terminology and clinical systems e.g. Emis Web
