Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly organised and self-motivated Medical Receptionist to join our friendly Reception Team, in a busy rural GP Practice in an attractive Yorkshire market town.

Flexibility is required to cover holiday and sickness leave. Including early mornings and late evening cover.

Our clinical System is SystmOne.

Reception



Provide the first point of contact for patients and visitors to the practice in a courteous and professional manner Handle patient queries and enquiries efficiently and empathetically Take accurate messages for other members of the Practice Team and pass these on promptly Facilitate effective communication between patients, members of the primary health care team, secondary care and associated healthcare agencies Confer with other members of the team to ensure handover is effective Work within the scope of the job role

Appointments



Handle requests for appointments in line with practice protocol to ensure the efficient running of the practice appointment system Handle home visit requests in line with practice protocol To handle Rota changes as required Cancel clinics when required following the cancellation policy

Administration



Maintain accurate computerised patient records, register new patients on to the clinical system, amend registration details (e.g. change of address or telephone details) when necessary Respond to requests for test results from patients, strictly adhering to guidelines on patient confidentiality. Process electronic tasks promptly and accurately, asking for further information if unsure of the requirements to complete the tasks Provide administrative support to clinical staff and other members of the practice team in order to ensure the smooth running of the practice Photocopy documents as requested

Other Tasks



Maintain security when opening and closing the surgery Monitor patients in the main waiting room and their well-being whilst they are waiting Tidy and maintain patient information displayed in the waiting rooms Support the Practice in its research activities when asked to do so

Specific Responsibilities



Included within your job description are some of the following responsibilities:

Arrange appointments for patients requiring 24 hour blood pressure monitoring Review reports to identify which patients need to be recalled and arrange for a letter to be sent for the following groups of patients Patients with long term conditions Housebound patients Patients requiring a follow up appointment Notify organisations outside of the Practice involved in a patient's care when the patient dies Review the DNA list provided by the Business Support Team and arrange for letters to be sent as necessary Ensure there is an up to date supply of New Patient Welcome Packs If required to work at our branch site at Thornton-le-Dale, manage repeat prescriptions in line with Practice procedures

Pay: From 12.21 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 26 per week
