We are looking for a part time medical receptionist to join our hard working team. The successful applicant will have excellent communication/customer service skills, a good understanding of IT and administration. We would prefer candidates to have experience of working in a GP surgery or a medical environment. Knowledge of the EMIS Clinical System would be an advantage. Enthusiasm and a good work ethic are also important to us.
The hours are 12.30pm to 7.00pm, every Friday. There is a possibility of additional hours as floating cover for colleagues. The reception is open 7.30am - 7.00pm , Monday to Friday
Main Duties
To provide excellent patient service, being the first point of contact for our patients and external organisations both at the front desk and over the telephone.
To always be courteous and helpful to patients, visitors and colleagues.
To update the appointment system
To support the clinical team as required
To be aware of and follow practice policies and procedures.
To be flexible and support the reception/admin teams as necessary and in the event of staff sickness/annual leave be prepared to provide extra cover at short notice.
We are a busy surgery with 4 GP Partners, 2 salaried doctors, 2 Nurse Practitioners and 4 members of the nursing team. We are a training practice for medical students. We value all members of the practice team.

Responsibilities
Greet patients warmly and assist them with the check-in process.
Manage appointment scheduling, confirmations, and cancellations.
Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries regarding services, appointments, and general information.
Maintain patient records accurately and ensure confidentiality is upheld at all times.
Coordinate with medical staff to ensure smooth patient flow throughout the clinic.
Qualifications
Previous experience within a medical setting is highly desirable.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on customer service excellence.
Proficient in using office equipment such as computers, printers, and telephones.
Ability to multitask effectively while maintaining attention to detail.
Familiarity with medical terminology is an advantage but not mandatory.
A positive attitude and a willingness to learn new processes within a healthcare environment.
