Job Description

Job Title: Care Navigator/Medical Receptionist

Hours:

30 hours per week, flexible between 6:45am and 8:15pm, Monday to Friday. May include some weekends. At least one evening shift per week. Additional hours may be required for coverage.

Location:

New Hayesbank Surgery, Kennington, Ashford, Kent

Job Purpose:


Serve as the first point of contact for patients, doctors, and the healthcare team, ensuring smooth operation of the reception area. Follow practice procedures and support the practice's goals within the Quality and Outcomes framework.

Key Responsibilities:

Schedule appointments by phone and in-person using the computer system. Manage the switchboard, answer queries, and take messages. Process home visit requests and communicate with the doctor/nurse. Accurately register temporary residents. Prepare forms and documents for patient services, ensuring patient understanding. Handle payments for services and record them accurately. Welcome patients and direct them to consulting rooms. Ensure effective handover of tasks between shifts. Maintain health and safety awareness and report hazards. Act as a chaperone for clinicians when required. Prepare and tidy consulting rooms and waiting areas before and after surgeries. Ensure the reception area is adequately stocked with necessary forms and information. Manage patient data in the computer system. File papers in chronological order in patient records. Assist with audits. Coordinate with the ambulance service as directed by clinicians. Attend training sessions and team meetings. Assist with opening and closing the surgery, including: Switching computers on/off Locking/unlocking windows and doors Arming/disarming the alarm Securing prescriptions and confidential materials Switching the telephone system to/from the out-of-hours service

Working Environment:


Primarily based at reception, handling phone and switchboard duties, and computer tasks requiring high concentration and ability to handle interruptions. The NHS environment is dynamic with increasing demands.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 12.21 per hour
