This is an opportunity to join the Medical Scientific Liaison team at GSK, within the Vaccines Business Unit. It\xe2\x80\x99s an exciting time to join a forward-thinking medical team, in which you will lead the scientific and medical expert engagement plan for adult vaccination. As the MSL, you will be responsible for scientific and medical engagement with the top experts in this field, bringing to life new data and the latest science for GSK medicines. Through this position you will become an expert in the vaccines and associated disease areas with a fantastic opportunity to make a difference to patients. This role is 100% field-based, and geographically covers the UK as a whole.

In this role you will

  • Deliver the field medical and scientific engagement plan.
  • Engage top experts in the field of vaccinology through:
  • Peer-to\xe2\x80\x93peer, robust scientific dialogue ensuring healthcare professionals are knowledgeable in identifying the right patient for the most appropriate medicines and vaccines
  • Delivering scientific presentations.
  • Connecting external experts with key internal stakeholders to foster collaboration with the researchers and the NHS.
  • Responding to unsolicited medical information enquiries from healthcare providers in a fair, factual, balanced, and scientifically rigorous manner via the appropriate channel to ensure appropriate use of GSK medicines.
  • Engage in discussions on potential research collaborations and evidence generation requirements
  • Attend scientific congresses to gather insights and engage experts on the science.
  • Act as the interface between the professional healthcare community and the internal GSK medical team and its affiliates to bring in value-added insights that inform GSK Medical,Commercial, and Research & Development activities.
  • Foster a collaborative working relationship with Medical Representatives and Commercial colleagues.
  • Partner with matrix colleagues (e.g. health outcomes, marketing, market access, etc.) to ensure strategies and business plans are both patient and business focused, and adding value to the external expert
  • Disseminate important safety information to healthcare professionals as and when this
  • emerges.
  • Support GSK study teams with the provision of scientific education and enquiry
  • management from investigators and staff engaged in GSK-supported clinical trials e.g. Investigator-Sponsored Studies (ISS).
  • Provide scientific education training for business partners such as the Medical Representatives by being the local scientific expert for the vaccine or group of vaccines in a therapy area.
  • Maintain a level of expertise in the evolving scientific / therapeutic area and in competitor medicines and vaccines.
  • Fully understand and comply with GSK standards and policies and with the ABPI Code of Practice, guidelines and laws to ensure the strictest requirements are met.

Basic Qualifications & Skills:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
  • BSc or MSc in a life sciences related degree
  • Strong expertise in the therapeutic area (vaccines) or related therapy areas from education or prior work
  • Previous experience of being able to clearly articulate complicated scientific and medical ideas, and be able to extrapolate and understand information to define and share key insights
  • Experience of managing relationships with internal and external partners including Key External Experts and global stakeholders
  • Proven ability to successfully and consistently build professional relationships in a healthcare or pharmaceutical setting, engaging specialists and facilitating connections between groups
  • A good understanding of the changing UK health care environment, especially in relation to implementation of vaccine programmes
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
  • Proven project management skills to lead and manage change projects
  • Proactive, self-motivated, self-reliant.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

Please note the following skills are not necessary, just preferred, if you do not have them, please still apply:
  • Higher degree in life sciences (MD, MBBS, MPharm, PharmD), or PhD
  • Previous experience as a Medical Scientific Liaison in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience working in infectious diseases, immunology, vaccinology, general practice or public health either in the pharmaceutical industry or healthcare/research sector
  • Established network of relationships in the sphere of vaccination programme implementation
