Type all letters and medical referrals dictated personally from Tasks, Lexacom or handwritten by clinicians, using the appropriate proforma, template or headed letter. Refer via e-referrals system and other referral pathways.
Any other typing that may be required by the clinical management team
Type all letters and medical referrals promptly, prioritising those marked as 2ww or urgent.
When referrals/results need to be chased, make contact with the appropriate consultant's secretary/hospital.
Email anything that needs to be sent urgently.
Keep an updated record of appropriate names and addresses, telephone and email addresses of organisations appropriate for practice use.
Any other secretarial duties that may be required by the Doctor's or Management team.
Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries or direct calls to the appropriate staff member
- Maintain patient records and update information as necessary
- Assist with insurance verification and billing processes
- Prepare and organize medical documents, reports, and correspondence
- Coordinate referrals to other healthcare providers or specialists
Experience:
- Previous experience working in an office or administrative role is preferred
- Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures is a plus
- Proficiency in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems is desirable
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for interacting with patients, staff, and healthcare professionals
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are necessary for managing appointments, records, and paperwork
