We are looking for a friendly and reliable
Medicine Counter Assistant (Pharmacy Assistant)
to join our team. This is an
entry-level healthcare role
with
full pharmacy training provided
, making it ideal for
beginners, school leavers, or those seeking a career change into community pharmacy or patient care

The Role
As a Medicine Counter Assistant, you will be the
first point of contact
for customers, helping them with over-the-counter medicines and minor ailments while referring more complex queries to the pharmacist. You will work in a
friendly, professional community pharmacy environment
, supporting patient care and day-to-day operations.
This is a full-time role
, including
2 half-day Saturdays every 4 weeks
, on a rota.
Key Responsibilities
Welcome customers and provide excellent
customer service
in a community pharmacy setting
Advise on
over-the-counter (OTC) medicines
and minor ailments using agreed protocols
Refer patients to the pharmacist when appropriate to ensure safe
patient care
Receive and process prescriptions and manage customer expectations
Accurately handle payments and cash in a
retail environment
Maintain a clean, welcoming, and professional pharmacy area
Support
stock control
and stock management, including receiving deliveries
Promote
NHS pharmacy services
such as
Flu Vaccinations
and the
New Medicine Service (NMS)
Work effectively as part of a friendly, supportive pharmacy team
About You
No previous pharmacy experience required
- this role is ideal for
beginners or career changers
Willing to undertake an
accredited Medicine Counter Assistant (MCA) training course
, fully funded and supported by the pharmacy
Friendly, approachable, and professional
Strong
communication skills
and a customer-focused approach
Able to work well in a team
Able to commit to a
full-time role

Previous
retail or customer-facing experience
is desirable but not essential
