Job Description

We are looking for a self-motivated Pharmacy Technician with a high attention to detail to join our Primary Care Medicines Optimisation Pharmacy Team. You will need to be passionate about patient care, have excellent interpersonal skills, great organisational skills, and the drive to push the boundaries of the profession.



As part of the Medicines Optimisation Pharmacy Team, you will support the development and implementation of the health board workplan by analysing prescribing data, developing standard operating procedures, and working closely with stakeholders.



Main responsibilities include:



You will work as part of the Medicines Optimisation Pharmacy Team supporting the implementation of the health board work plan in GP practices, liaising with practice staff, community pharmacies and other health care professionals to ensure this is done seamlessly.



You will promote and support safe, cost effective prescribing working as part of a multidisciplinary team



You will assist in the delivery of pharmaceutical education relating to medicines management for pre-registration pharmacy technicians, trainee pharmacists, other healthcare professionals and non-registered staff.



You will be involved in the process of controlled drug destruction in community pharmacies and GP practices.



You will need to have excellent communication skills and be confident in interacting with a diverse range of people and staff groups in a variety of settings.



You will need to be self-driven and able to work autonomously to complete tasks within the desired time frame.



The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.



Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.

Amman Valley and Llandovery hospitals in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire hospitals in Pembrokeshire

Two integrated care centres:

Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion, and several other community settings

47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 97 community pharmacies; 43 general ophthalmic practices; and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers

Numerous mental health and learning disabilities services
