Job overview




We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced mental health professional to take on a 12 month secondment or fixed term post as a job share, with our established multi-disciplinary Mental Health Liaison Team (MHLT) based at the James Paget University Hospital (JPUH).



MHLT provides the Core24 service at JPUH for ages 16 and over. The multidisciplinary team includes Mental Health Practitioners (Nurses/Social

Workers), Clinical Psychologist, Consultant Psychiatrists and Admin staff.


Main duties of the job




MHLT work with patients with both mental health needs and complex physical health presentations. The team accepts referrals from the

Emergency Department and inpatient ward areas. You will work alongside our existing leadership team to line manage the team and need to be

confident with day to day operational management, supporting JPUH colleagues and HR processes. There is a requirement to regularly review

the teams performance and data and report into the wider care group.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities




We are looking for a highly motivated, forward thinking individual who wants to be part of creating excellence; and who thrives on working in a

There is a requirement to carry out complex risk assessments on a daily basis and you must be able to demonstrate expert skills and knowledge

of assessing patients who present in risks with complex needs. You will need to demonstrate confidence in following Safeguarding referral

processes where required and also working alongside external partners including JPUH, Police, NSFT inpatient and community teams, NCC,

NNUH, QEH, Wellbeing, MIND and others to establish robust care packages for our patients.



The Mental Health Liaison Team (MHLT) is a Core 24 liaison team that aspires to clinical, teaching and research excellence. We are a dynamic,

rapidly developing and evolving service covering service users aged 16 and over in a 500-bed busy general hospital.



The MHLT is the interface between physical and mental health working within the James Paget University Hospital (JPUH) and the wider NSFT.

Our multidisciplinary team is made up of a wide range of professional expertise and skills with a vigorous culture of collaborative working. This

provides robust support in decision making; internal education and training; and assistance in your professional development.

Qualifications




Essential criteria




Nursing degree or equivalent, Dip SW or Dip OT or equivalent, or HCPC registered

Desirable criteria




ILM certificate in management or equivalent Ongoing professional development working towards degree level Higher degree or post graduate certificate in area of clinical / therapeutic practice - Post basic teaching qualification #

Experience




Essential criteria




Able to demonstrate experience at a senior clinical level including staff management/supervision experience. Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team Extensive experience with risk assessment and management. Mentoring Experience

Desirable criteria




Evidence of providing leadership in an acute care environment including service development #

Hold a valid driving license and the ability to travel.
