We have an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Nurse to join our mental health team at HMP New Hall based in Wakefield.
HMP New Hall is a female adult and young offenders institution offering medium level of security with a population of 344 females.
The team consists of a team of 8 including senior mental health nurse, LD nurse, mental health nurses and HCA's
The mental health team have a office based in within the healthcare department however you will be mainly based on the prison wings conducting clinics, assessments days and dealing with case loads.
Hours
The site offers a 7 days service and rota's are done 1 month in advance

• Monday Sunday service - 37.5 hours per week
• Monday - Friday 8am - 6pm
• Weekends and Bank Holidays 9am - 5pm
• 1 weekend in 5
• Rota's done 4 weeks in advance

Salary
This position is full time, you'll receive an annual salary up to 33,232 - 40,211 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

What you'll be doing
As a Mental Health Nurse your responsibilities will vary. You will

• You will work within a multi-disciplinary team carrying out comprehensive assessments, initiating and reviewing care plans, and developing treatment options.
• You will undertake medication rounds, and assess and treat patients who may have undergone traumatic experiences and may be distressed
• You will assess patient's health needs using an evidence based framework and be able to risk assess use sound clinical knowledge, as well as Open, maintain, close and take part in reviews of individuals being managed under the Prison Suicide and Self Harm risk management system known as Assessment, Care in Custody and Teamwork (ACCT).

Qualifications required:

• NMC registered Mental Health Nurse
• Evidence of Continued Professional Development
• Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working

• Excellent communication skills
