JOB TITLE: EMHIP Mobile Hub Support Worker

LOCATION: 56a Mitcham Road Croydon CR0 3RG

RESPONSIBLE TO: Mobile Hub Team Manager

SALARY: 30,000

HOURS: 37.5 hours per week

LENGTH: Fixed short-term contract till March 2026 (potential to extend)

About the Role



The Mobile Hub Support Worker plays a key role in delivering culturally sensitive, person-centred support to individuals and families within Croydon's Global Majority communities particularly those from Black and Asian backgrounds. This role requires strong triage and decision-making skills to assess individual needs effectively and respond promptly, ensuring timely access to appropriate support and services.

As a member of the Ethnicity Mental Health Improvement Project(EMHIP) Mobile Hub team, the Support Worker will operate across faith-based venues, community settings, and educational institutions in Croydon to reduce long standing inequalities in access, experience and outcomes in mental health services.

Key Responsibilities



Provide 1:1 support and manage a caseload of clients across various community settings. Conduct holistic, person-centred assessments and develop tailored support plans. Triage and identify risk levels to ensure timely referrals to appropriate services, including clinical and statutory providers. Offer advice and guidance on welfare, housing, employment, and training. Facilitate access to social support groups, workshops, and recovery activities. Devise and deliver appropriate mental health related awareness workshops. Maintain accurate case notes and data on the CRM system. Attend training, team meetings, and supervision to stay informed and skilled. Contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of EMHIP through outreach, awareness events, and workshop facilitation.

What We're Looking For



Essential Skills & Experience



Proven experience in mental health, community health, or social care settings. Strong understanding of health inequalities and the impact of cultural and racial disparity in mental health. Excellent triage and problem-solving abilities able to assess situations quickly and respond effectively. Confident in engaging with individuals in distress, managing sensitive conversations with empathy and professionalism. Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to build trusting relationships. Able to work independently in diverse community environments.

Desirable



Experience advising on housing and welfare benefits, including Universal Credit. Second language proficiency. Familiarity with recovery-oriented and strengths-based models of care.

Qualifications



Essential

: Qualification or substantial experience in mental health, psychology, social care, or related field.

Desirable

: Training in peer support, counselling, or therapeutic interventions.
