To provide high-quality, person-centred support to individuals with mental health needs living in a supported living environment. You will work collaboratively with each service user to promote recovery, independence, and wellbeing, supporting them to live fulfilling and meaningful lives within the community.
Key Responsibilities: Support and Care Provision
Build trusting, professional relationships with service users based on respect, empathy, and dignity.
Provide emotional and practical support tailored to the individual's recovery journey.
Assist with daily living tasks, such as cooking, cleaning, personal care (where required), and medication management.
Support service users in developing skills for independent living (e.g., budgeting, meal planning, self-care).
Promote physical and mental wellbeing through structured routines and community engagement.
Support service users in accessing health services, employment, education, and social activities.
Record Keeping and Compliance
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of care and support provided, including daily notes, risk assessments, and care plans.
Monitor and report changes in mental health, behaviour, or physical health to appropriate professionals.
Adhere to safeguarding procedures and report concerns in line with company policy.
Follow all relevant legislation and regulatory requirements (e.g., CQC standards, GDPR, Health and Safety).
Teamwork and Communication
Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external professionals (e.g., social workers, mental health nurses).
Attend regular staff meetings, training sessions, and supervision.
Contribute positively to a supportive team environment that fosters continuous improvement.
Essential Requirements:
Experience working with individuals with mental health needs or in a similar support role.
Understanding of mental health conditions, recovery models, and person-centred approaches.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to remain calm and responsive in challenging situations.
Willingness to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and occasional sleep-ins or on-call shifts.
Desirable:
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (or willingness to work towards).
Knowledge of safeguarding and risk management.
First aid or medication administration training.
