Job Description

We are recruiting three members of staff for a new Emotional Wellbeing & Support Service at Mind Cwm Taf Morgannwg. Each member of staff will primarily be based in one local authority area, either Bridgend, Merthyr Tydfil or Rhondda Cynon Taf.

Our Mental Health and Wellbeing Adviserswill be active and compassionate listeners, passionate about providing quality mental health and wellbeing advice and support, including signposting or referring people to other services relevant to the issues they are facing that contribute to poor mental health or emotional wellbeing (which may include finance, housing, employment, education, substance misuse, domestic abuse).

Please note that a mental health qualification is not essential to apply for this position.

We will provide an in-depth induction, ensuring you are equipped with knowledge and support to do the role. We will also train you to deliver Single Session Therapy, an intervention we are piloting as part of this service.

Qualifications

The following are desirable, but we can provide relevant training as part of the job:

Level 3 Certificate in Advice and Guidance.

Certificate in counselling skills. Mental Health First Aid Certificate.

Experience of providing advice and support (E). Experience of prioritising tasks within a busy environment (E). Experience of working autonomously and using own initiative (E). Experience of providing mental health or wellbeing support (D). Experience of working collaboratively with third sector and statutory services (D). Experience of responding to people in mental health crisis and the use of de-escalation techniques (D). Experience of undertaking assessments of people's mental health and wellbeing needs (D). Experience of assessing and managing safeguarding risks (D).
Knowledge

Knowledge and commitment to equal opportunities, diversity, and inclusion (E). Knowledge of using Microsoft Office (E) and CRM systems (D). An understanding of mental health, the stigma that still exists and steps that can be taken to promote positive mental health and wellbeing (D). Knowledge of the services that are available to support people with poor mental health and emotional wellbeing (D). Knowledge/application of Data Protection practices when recording and storing information about service users (D).
