Turn2 Mentoring is an organisation that was created with the aim of meeting the forever growing complex needs of young people across education provision and the wider community.
Turn2 Mentoring delivers a portfolio of mentoring services to children and young people referred by Schools, Local Authorities, Youth Offending Services and Social Services as part of their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
We have successfully established working relationships with a wide variety of children and young people across Bristol. The aim of our work is to support individuals in a reduction of school exclusions and reports of crime or anti-social behaviour, as well as improve health and well-being, engagement and increase future prospects.
The Youth Mentor plays a vital role in supporting and guiding young individuals through their personal and educational development. This position involves working closely with children and adolescents to foster their growth, enhance their skills, and provide a positive influence in their lives. The ideal candidate will have a passion for SEN youth work and a commitment to making a difference in the community.
Duties
Develop and implement engaging educational activities tailored to the needs of each young person.
Provide one-on-one mentoring to support personal development, academic achievement, and social skills.
Educate mentees on various topics including life skills, emotional intelligence, and decision-making.
Foster a safe and supportive environment where young individuals feel comfortable expressing themselves.
Collaborate with parents, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to each youth's development.
Monitor progress and provide feedback to help guide youth towards achieving their goals.
Assist in managing group activities and workshops that promote teamwork and interpersonal skills.
Maintaining all aspects of safeguarding, liaising regularly with the DSL.
Skills
Experience in SEN youth work or related fields is essential.
Ability to inspire and motivate children and young people.
Strong mentoring abilities with a focus on building trust and rapport with young individuals.
Flexibility, a good team player and a good sense of humour.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with youth and stakeholders.
An interest in, and understanding of the factors which affect behaviour.
Ability to educate young people on various subjects while adapting to their unique learning styles.
Patience, empathy, and understanding towards the challenges faced by children and adolescents.
