Role Summary
As a Merchandising Specialist, you will be responsible for placing and managing purchase orders with suppliers across Asia, the UK, and the EU. You will take ownership of the inbound product flow, including lead times, shipping schedules, customs clearance, and warehouse capacity planning. Working closely with the Purchasing Manager, you will support the optimisation of our merchandising strategy while building and maintaining strong relationships with all key process stakeholders(Internal and External)
The role will require at least three days a week in our Bristol city centre office, on occasions with travel required to Chippenham for stakeholder meetings.
Duties and Responsibilities (Include but not limited to)
Place and manage purchase orders with suppliers across Asia, the UK and the EU.
Own inbound flow: lead times, shipping schedules, customs and warehouse capacity.
Forecast demand with internal teams; plan intake and set replenishment targets.
Supporting the launch of new products, ensuring smooth inbounding and availability.
Helping optimise our merchandising strategy to balance supply, demand, and sales performance.
Building and maintaining strong relationships with international suppliers.
Coordinating with logistics partners to ensure smooth, timely stock flow.
Monitoring product performance, sales trends, and customer demand.
Managing the introduction, continuation and discontinuing of product ranges.
Identify underperforming products or categories and proposing corrective actions (price adjustments,promotions, repositioning).
Support Marketing/Ecommerce teams with cross/up-sells selection of product assortment
Build strong cross-functional relationships across Product, Distribution and Supplier teams.
Assisting in range planning, seasonal promotions, and merchandising strategies.
Working closely with the wider team to align purchasing with marketing, ecommerce, and operational goals.
Report weekly and seasonal trading performance, highlighting key trends and opportunities.
Achieve department KPI's in line with strategy and department plan, maximising sales and profit.
Assist with communication regarding departmental strategy with Buyers and Designer, incorporating seasonal learnings and forward plan.
Monitor product categories, shape pricing strategy and influence range building alongside the Buyers.
Tracking consumer and competitor behaviour insight allowing for best informed decision making.
Encourage and enable seamless multichannel communication, gathering feedback on promotions, product category success, listings comparisons etc and highlighting where require any process improvements.

Job-Related Experience
Must have:
Experience in purchasing, supply chain, or merchandising (retail or furniture experience a plus).
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Confidence working with international suppliers and logistics partners.
A proactive mindset and ability to adapt quickly to shifting priorities.
A collaborative approach -- enjoying being part of a supportive, fun team.
Strong Microsoft Office skills in particular Excel to an advanced level.
Highly competent with strong numerical and analytical skills with the ability to interpret large data sources.
Nice to have:
Experience with furniture, interiors, or homeware categories.
Knowledge of ERP systems, inventory management software, or data analytics tools.
Understanding of sustainability practices in sourcing and supply chain.
Familiarity with import/export regulations and customs processes.
Involvement in product development or range planning.
Strong numerical and analytical skills for forecasting and trend analysis.
