We are seeking a skilled, reliable and organised Metal Fabricator to join our small fabrication team.
This role would suit either someone with decades of experience 'winding down' from a full time role elsewhere, who is used to working independently and to having responsibility. Or someone who is ready for the next challenge in their career and who has the energy and motivation take on a varied and dynamic role.
We are a sculpture agency that specialises is metal sculptures. The sculptures often involve water. We need someone to come into the workshop who can get to know each piece, learn how to build it, install it and then occasionally visit clients to help maintain the piece on an annual basis.
The candidate should have some/all of the following:
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications to determine fabrication requirements.
- Experience in operating various tools including hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment to cut, shape, and assemble metal components.
- Perform TIG welding and other welding processes.
- (desirable) Fabricate sheet metal structures, ensuring accuracy in dimensions and quality of finish.
- Use mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot issues with equipment or materials during fabrication processes.
- Assist in the assembly of fabricated parts into finished products or structures.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times.
- Conduct quality checks on completed work to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Basic maths.
- Good verbal and written communication
- Be organised, efficient and a self starter.
The successful candidate will be responsible for creating high-quality metal structures through precise fabrication techniques. This role offers an excellent opportunity to utilise your welding expertise and mechanical knowledge.
Desirable:
- Creative - someone who has experience in design would do well in this role
- Experience in CAD design extremely desirable
- Someone with ideas / problem solver
- Ability to manage deadlines / workflow / people
- Understanding of plumbing / water flows.
- Some one happy to work outside from time to time.
- A van (or at least a car to get to the workshop / client addresses)
- Happy working on their own / within a small team from time to time.
- Engineering background an advantage.

160 - 200 per day depending on experience
As it stands this role would be on a self employed basis and the applicant would need to complete monthly invoices and be responsible for their own tax. However this could change into a long term employment contract within time.
