Vantec Europe Limited (VEU) are headquartered in Washington, Sunderland and owned by the Logisteed Group. We are one of the top third-party logistics (3PL) providers in the Japanese market and we are continuously growing our global business.

We currently operate 13 sites in the UK with a customer base in high volume automotive, premium automotive, construction equipment, lighting, automotive battery and offshore industries.

Our services include Last-Mile / Just-In-Time (JIT) logistics, Warehousing, Kitting, Sequencing, Decant, Transport, and Linefeed. Our operations are underpinned by flexible and agile systems which integrate seamlessly with our customers and create robust processes.

Vantec created the UK's first immersive 'living warehouse' in 2018 and continues to pioneer work in immersive technology. Vantec Interactive Experience (VIE) is an immersive platform that uses 360-degree and 270-degree interactive projection to create realistic environments for training, sales and learning.

Through the introduction of interactive and engaging VIE 3D immersive suites; E-learning; Virtual Reality and Fork Lift Truck Simulators, recycling initiatives and by increasing our fleet of low carbon transport including electric and Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO).

Hours of work

Monday to Friday
39 hours per week:
Monday to Thursday 07:55 - 16:35
Friday 07:55 - 13:35
Hybrid working (2 days in-office per week after training)

Overview

As part of our growing tech team, this role is responsible for the development and maintenance of internal and external platforms using Laravel and related technologies. The developer will contribute to both new feature development and modernisation of legacy systems, ensuring performance, scalability and maintainability.

1. Development

Design, develop and maintain web applications using Laravel and PHP.
Migrate legacy systems to modern Laravel architecture.
Build multi-tenant SaaS applications with proper isolation and scalability.
Integrate third-party APIs and services.
Develop responsive frontend components using JavaScript (Vue.js or React).
Optimise database queries and implement caching strategies (e.g., Redis).

2. Support

Provide support for internal platforms and tools.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the tech stack.
Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth deployment and maintenance.

3. Performance Improvement

Review existing systems and identify opportunities for optimisation.
Implement best practices for performance, security and maintainability.
Contribute to continuous improvement of development workflows.

4. Customer Management

Work with internal stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
Attend project meetings and provide technical input.
Ensure customer expectations are managed and met.

5. People

Collaborate effectively with other developers and departments.
Share knowledge and support junior team members.
Maintain constructive communication across the business.

6. Other Duties

Perform other related duties as required in support of the department and business goals.

Financial:

Effective budget management in agreed financial targets Ensure compliance with the company Purchase Order process.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum three years of experience in software development (PHP / Java). At least two years of hands-on Laravel experience. Experience with REST API design and integration. Familiarity with database design and performance optimisation. Experience with frontend frameworks (Vue.js / React). Experience with Redis, Git, and CI/CD workflows.

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.
Equivalent professional experience considered.
