We are looking to hire a Midweight Designer (with 5+ years previous experience) to work for
Naum House
, a growing interior design studio with offices in Marylebone.
Our ideal candidate has impeccable attention to detail, is a confident project manager and problem solver, has good drawing and presentation making skills and is excited to join in a growing interior design firm, serving the day-to-day needs of residential and commercial projects from start to finish, working closely with the Creative Director and the supporting team. It is essential that the candidate has experience in the high-end residential realm of design. Our current projects include high end residential, event concept design and development, styling and sourcing.
Successful applicants will be proficient in taking instruction to interrogate architectural drawings, develop design intent documents, research and presentations around all aspects of interior design with some garden and interior architectural design involved too.
This person should have the project management experience to take a particular package of works and follow them through to completion, consulting the Creative Director as and when necessary. This involves creating clear programmes for work streams, liaising with suppliers, vendors, subcontractors and ensuring that all elements are brought together to lead to the final completion of that particular package of work. This person should be confident in the process of interior design procurement as needed, unpicking quotations, negotiating best rates, problem solving, developing design detail, sourcing materials and makers.
This person should also have a passion for interior design, architecture, art and furniture design and feel comfortable updating FF&E schedules and inventories on Excel.
They should also have good presentation skills and be attentive in meetings and ready to update all documents - lists, visual presentations, and Excel documents with the latest information so that all is collated for easy reference.
This person should be able to draw to a basic ability to quickly sketch things up to scale in CAD or other software as needed. They should feel comfortable hand sketching to scale.
In reverse, information that is kept on larger sets of documents or drawings, will often need to be extrapolated and reconfigured to share with a particular subcontractor, such as an upholsterer, joiner or specialist painter so that a clear brief can be given to each subcontractor for the purposes of preparing quotes or agreeing on works.
It is important that this person enjoys sourcing in person and trawling online - and in person - for material finishes, fabrics, sanitary ware, antiques, design objects, accessories, appliances, etc. and can efficiently collect options with all samples, dimensions and prices to present to the principal for consideration. This person would also help to coordinate travel and meetings to view facilitate sourcing in person as needed.
This person would also work to source items against a prepared list, regularly throughout a long list of suppliers who are online and also auction houses and prepare lists of suitable items for the Creative Director to review.
Our ideal candidate would also be excited and willing to help out with production for brand related events such as collection launches for our e-commerce and willing to help out with our social media and website content.
It is essential that this person is proficient at AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Keynote, and hand drawing to scale. Drawing skills must be a strength.
Our design projects also collaborate within Smartsheets, so knowledge of this will be advantageous. Intermediate to advanced level MS Word and Excel is essential. We are Mac-based company.
