We are seeking a skilled, creative and motivated mid-weight Video Specialist to join our dynamic production team. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual with a passion for storytelling to contribute to content which elevates the technology landscape and makes a real difference.
You will play a role in crafting thought-provoking narratives across a range of mediums, from engaging short-form videos for online B2B platforms to assembling footage for longer-form projects. Core responsibilities include crafting short-form edits from our repository of archival interview footage, producing high-quality content for our social media channels and autonomously filming interview subjects, industry events and b-roll.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a strong creative vision, excellent technical skills, and the ability to thrive both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Summary of Skills & Responsibilities
Video Editing:
Independently edit short-form video content for various online platforms (e.g., social media, websites), ensuring engaging pacing, visual appeal, and adherence to brand guidelines.
Produce engaging social media content for Dark Matter's marketing activities.
Collaborate with producers and directors to assemble concise, compelling, and attention-grabbing edits from raw footage, interviews, and archival materials.
Develop an understanding of the subject-matter and contribute creatively to projects.
Manage complex timelines and multiple sources of media.
Incorporate graphics, text overlays, music, and sound effects to enhance storytelling.
Reversion content for different platforms and aspect ratios.
Shooting:
Operate video cameras and audio recording equipment to capture high-quality footage for short-form video projects. This could be filming interviews, event footage or capturing b-roll footage.
Demonstrate an understanding of composition, lighting, and sound recording principles.
Maintain and care for cameras and related equipment.
Technical Proficiency:
Proficient in using industry-standard video editing software, specifically
DaVinci Resolve
and
Adobe Premiere Pro
.
Strong understanding of video codecs, formats, and delivery specifications.
Experience with
Adobe After Effects
for motion graphics, visual effects, and compositing.
Familiarity with other Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
Knowledge of file management and project organisation best practices.
Production:
Proactively identify opportunities to improve content.
Stay up to date with industry trends, techniques and technologies to continuously improve video editing skills and keep our work at the forefront of innovation.
Adhere to project deadlines and production schedules, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Troubleshoot technical issues and find creative solutions independently.
Maintain up-to-date project files, ensuring accessibility for future reference and revisions.
Collaboration:
Work closely with producers, directors, and other team members to understand project goals and provide creative input.
Communicate effectively and constructively to share ideas and feedback.
Participate in brainstorming sessions, offering fresh perspectives, and contributing to the development of video-based assets.
Skills and Experience:
3-5 years industry experience.
Proven experience as a Video Editor / Producer, with a portfolio showcasing short-form work ideally with some social media examples.
Demonstrable ability to create engaging video content for multiple platforms.
Strong technical skills in video editing software, particularly
Da Vinci Resolve
and
Adobe Premiere Pro
.
Experience in shooting video content, including camera operation, lighting, and sound recording.
(Desirable)
Experience with
Adobe After Effects
and motion graphics.
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
A proactive and problem-solving attitude.
A passion for visual storytelling and a keen eye for detail.
