As a MIG/TIG Welder, you will be working with a variety of components, primarily welding mild steel. You'll be reading and interpreting engineering drawings to complete your work efficiently and to the highest standard. Your role will involve handling materials, assembly tasks, welding, and other associated duties, ensuring compliance with all customer specifications and production deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
Set, operate, and maintain MIG and TIG welding machines and related equipment
Perform MIG welding primarily on mild steel
Read and interpret engineering drawings to execute welding projects
Test and inspect welded surfaces to ensure they meet customer specifications
Use measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers) to inspect parts
Diagnose and troubleshoot welding-related issues
Carry out general fabrication tasks (cutting, grinding, drilling, etc.)
Ensure production deadlines are met
Report any issues or faults to the Production Supervisors
Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to Health & Safety legislation at all times
Person Specification:
Essential:
MUST already have the Right to work in the UK
Proven MIG/TIG welding experience (particularly in mild steel)
Ability to read and accurately interpret engineering drawings
Experience in the manufacturing/engineering industry
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work within strict timeframes
Excellent manual dexterity and a good understanding of English
Desirable:
General fabrication knowledge (e.g., punching, bending, rolling, tacking)
Additional welding experience, including TIG welding
