Are you interested in starting a career as a Welder, to be part of the Maintenance team on site, carrying out various welding tasks on both mobile and fixed plant. You will support the maintenance of various items of plant and for responding to emergency breakdowns of plant on site and throughout the company's equipment.
As an Apprentice Welder, you will receive support to complete your NVQ L2 over the first two years, and if successful, you will progress to Level 3 in the final year, while gaining practical experience.
Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, you may be considered for a Welding position within the team, depending on available opportunities and your performance.
You will be part of the welding team based at one of our Quarries either at Narberth or Haverfordwest.
Roles & Responsibilities:-
Carrying out repairs to mobile plant, fixed plant and HGV's.
Assess which welding equipment is required and which method is the most appropriate for a specific welding task.
The ability to read engineering drawings, work from hand drawn sketches and complete work in line with specifications.
Cutting and Joining material.
Daily inspections of workshop equipment e.g. gas equipment, welders, ventilation equipment & respirators.
Conduction visual inspections of work carried out
Completing repairs and maintenance records, Job cards and defect reporting.
Carry out daily inspections of welding workshops, storage of steel and vehicles in line with the company housekeeping standards and requirements.
Carry out a monthly consumable report to supply to the Quarry Manager for month end.
Liaise with Workshop Manager and deliver to their expectations.
The ability to operate any mobile plant if the appropriate training has been identified and in place to assist with the maintenance operations.
Carrying out repairs to fixed plant such as Asphalt plants, concrete plants and crushing plant.
Fabricating items for improvements in production and safety of plant as requested by the management team.
