Module Integration Design Engineer

Job Description

Kraken platforms operate on a modular payload basis to enable the end users to achieve different capabilities on the same platform through rerolling a payload. As such, Kraken are building a module integration team and this role would support the integration lead in generating concept, marketing materials and more detailed designs of the payload modules.

The role will primarily consist of participating in integration workshops with internal and external stakeholders, as well as a range of design tasks and generating marketing graphics to be used in collaboration with payload providers. The role is part of the mechanical design team and will draw on other design team resource, as well as electrical, control and systems engineering. Whilst the day to day will typically be around module integration, as part of the mechanical design team the candidate would also be involved in a wider variety of design tasks on the Kraken platforms.

This is a great opportunity to be hands on from early concepts through to production ready designs, working on innovative technology that makes a real difference.

What you'll be doing:



As a key member of the team, your day-to-day responsibilities will include: Performing Space, Weight, and Power (SWAP-E) assessments for payload integration Creating detailed 3D CAD models in Siemens NX, from early concepts through to production-level detail Preparing clear and accurate manufacture and assembly drawings for prototypes and final builds Designing mechanical components, selecting materials, defining interfaces, and integrating parts into procurement systems and Bills of Materials Producing conceptual renderings to communicate design intent and vision

What we're looking for:



Strong communication skills and a collaborative working style A proactive attitude to time management and delivering to deadlines Experience with parametric 3D modelling tools, ideally with an eye toward SWAP(E) A solid foundation in structural design, particularly using composites and metals

Nice to have (but not essential):



Experience creating photo-realistic or conceptual renderings Familiarity with VR model interrogation tools Interest or experience in 3D printing and design for additive manufacture Some exposure to Finite Element Analysis (FEA) in both composites and metal structures
