Job Description


Position: We are seeking a Module Leader and Lecturer (maternity cover) at the School of Adventure Studies. The role will involve the specialist delivery, assessment and leadership on our Outdoor and Adventure Therapeutic Practice postgraduate certificate (PGCert).Responsibilities: The role involves the leadership and delivery on two Post Graduate modules in the field of Outdoor and Adventure Therapies. The first is titled xe2x80x98Theoretical Basis of Outdoor and Adventure Therapiesxe2x80x99. This is an online module that can be delivered remotely. It includes bi-weekly online tutorials running from September 2025 to May 2026, complementing existing pre-recorded content and online learning materials. Preparation for this module begins in August 2025, and assessment and marking continue until the end of June 2026.The second module, xe2x80x98Reflexive Therapeutic Practice in Outdoor Environmentsxe2x80x99, blends online and residential delivery. It includes four online sessions starting in September 2025, followed by a six-day residential component in the Scottish Highlands in October/November. While the online sessions can be delivered remotely, in-person participation and travel are required for the residential. This role includes module leadership and substantial involvement in planning and delivering the residential experience. Teaching preparation begins in August 2025, with marking concluding by the end of January 2026, with preparation for and attendance at the UHI exam board meetings in February and June respectively. Both modules require the recording of online sessions to support students who are working full-time or studying internationally and may not be able to attend live.Qualifications, Experience and Skills: The suitable candidate will ideally be working in a similar role in Higher Education or above and have practitioner experience in Outdoor Therapeutic Practice in a range of adventure disciplines. The online delivery will start during student induction week (w/c 25th August). Module teaching begins w/c 1st September and the residential is planned to be Scotland-based, w/c 27th October.Interviews will be held w/c 26th May 2025 (online or in person).
