What's the job?




The main focus of the role is coordinating our regulatory monitoring processes.


Exercising your professional judgement, you will analyse the data we have for our licence-holders to determine appropriate monitoring requirements, taking account of risks, external intelligence, and legal requirements.


This will require regular communication with firms, often dealing with senior leaders. There's also important responsibilities for reporting to ICAS' Authorisation Committee, and to our external regulators, including the FRC.


Regulatory monitoring is a core function of ICAS, helping us to understand whether our members and firms are meeting the high standards that we set, protecting the reputation of ICAS and the public interest.


Who do we need?



This role is be ideal for someone who can work independently, exercise professional judgment, and balance competing priorities.


We're looking for someone with experience of working as an executive assistant/PA, or in a similar compliance role, ideally involving some level of data analytics. Previous employment with a professional membership body or regulator would be desirable, as would any experience in the accountancy sector.


Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail are essential with a requirement to be able to work to tight deadlines, with minimal supervision, adopting a problem-solving mindset to their work.


You will need to have excellent communication skills, with a clear, confident, and collaborative approach, and ability to explain what we do in plain, accessible language. You'll be proactive, hands-on, and eager to shape your role as part of a forward-thinking team.


Some principal accountabilities:




Ensuring that ICAS' monitoring visits are scheduled, undertaken, and closed down in accordance with legal requirements, as well as our regulations, internal processes, and any applicable KPIs. Providing high-quality advice and assistance to members and firms (by telephone and email) who raise queries over the monitoring process. Active management of the follow-up requirements applied to members and firms, ensuring that regulatory requirements are met or appropriately escalated to colleagues. Writing reports and other papers in summary of the monitoring process and presenting these to relevant stakeholders (including colleagues and governance bodies). Key responsibility for the monitoring content of reporting to government regulatory bodies, ensuring annual deadlines are met and that reports are of sufficient quality. Where requested, project managing reviews designed to improve the regulatory monitoring process, focusing on scheduling, close-down, and reporting processes. Ensuring that ICAS' CRM system is promptly and accurately updated in relation monitoring visits (e.g. dates of visits and follow-up actions). Lead role in relation to the content of the monitoring areas of the ICAS website, including the preparation of written and video content, ensuring that the website is relevant, informative, and accessible.
