The Collections Claims Handler role involves the negotiation and settlement of credit hire invoices with at-fault insurers, following non-fault motor traffic accidents. Day-to-day, you will take ownership of your own caseload which will involve keeping clients up-to-date and negotiating financial settlements with insurers both over the phone and via written correspondence. Some cases will need to be prepared for litigation and passed to panel solicitors.
Main responsibilities:
To apply a structured approach to case diary management - ensure all claims are progressing and within the correct status to enable accurate monitoring and reporting.
Review liability and identify any potential issues in the recovery costs.
Proactively and confidently chase and negotiate settlement of the hire charges with insurers, inline with the company procedures.
Work with solicitors and brokers to ensure that the claim is progressing towards settlement, and keep clients updated.
Ensure that all required documentation for settlement of a claim is gathered in a timely manner.
Work towards company and individual targets
Adherence to H&S and HR policies and procedures
Application of relevant case law and credit hire principles in order to settle cases
What you need to work for us:
Essential -
Good Level of education - at least to GCSE level or equivalent
Customer Service Experience
Good communication skills that can be applied written and verbally
knowledge of MS Office
Strong Negotiation skills
Effective diary management
Some previous motor claims or credit control experience
Desirable -
English & Maths GCSE
Experience working in credit hire, insurance or automotive industry
Understanding of litigation process

- Monday to Friday - Full Time working hours. Option to work from home available 2 days a week once training completed.
