You will be responsible for customers vehicles, troubleshooting issues and repair work, aiming to maximum reliability and functionality.
An excellent Vehicle Technician has good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. You will be well-versed in mechanical or electronical systems of vehicles and have excellent problem-solving abilities. You must also be a good communicator to provide advice to customers, when appropriate. You must be able to work with various machines and tools as well as follow all safety precautions.
Responsibilities
- Service, repair and fault diagnostics work on all vehicles
- Ensure a job sheet is followed, completed and returned to the office
- Inspect vehicle engines and mechanical / electrical components to diagnose issues accurately
- Discuss any work requiring specialist skills with the Head Vehicle Technician / Managers
- Use initiative, think ahead and request parts to ensure vehicles are ready as promptly as possible
- Maintain knowledge of technical developments through attending training courses as required by Management
- Carry out general vehicle maintenance and repair
- Utilise your technical knowledge
- Test, diagnose, and resolve faults
- Make suggestions to improve processes
- Work on electrical and mechanical systems
- Inspect components for wear and tear
- Repair and replace parts - such as tyres, suspension, brakes
- Run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues
- Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability
- Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner
- Perform thorough maintenance on Company machinery, equipment and systems
- Use and apply lubricants to mechanical components as required & supplied
- Replenish fluids and components of engines according to manufacturers specifications
- Undertake other duties as reasonable requested by Management
- MOT preparation and inspections work on vehicles
- Report any damage or shortage of parts / tools to Management in order to request replacement part or order spares and/or consumables, tools
- Observe relevant health and safety procedures, including the use of protective clothing and equipment
- Maintain working area, tools and equipment in a safe and clean condition
- Ensure all work is 'sense checked' by another technician prior to releasing the vehicle
- Maintain a professional approach on social media when representing the business
- Be an ambassador for the businesses
Requirements and Skills
- Proven experience as Vehicle Technician
- Knowledge of machinery and hydraulic, electrical and other systems and their components
- Aptitude in using various hand tools (ratchets, screwdrivers, hammers etc.) and precision measurement tools (e.g. multi meters, verniers, torque wrenches)
- Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instruction, diagrams, workshop manuals.
- A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines

- Possess high levels of integrity and drive to succeed
- Be enthusiastic, respectful and friendly to customers and colleagues
- Completed recognised Automotive Qualification
