To plan and deliver high quality - inclusive motor vehicle sessions that engage and inspire children and young people with complex needs, including those with Special Educational needs (SEN).
The role involves supporting students to gain practical skills, build confidence and achieve vocational qualifications such as AQA unit awards, City & Guilds and NCFE.
The Motor Vehicle Tutor will contribute to each student personal, social and academic development through a student-centred approach, preparing them for progression into further training, education or employment.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and differentiated motor vehicle sessions tailored to the needs of SEN learners.
Provide practical, hands-on training in vehicle maintenance, repair, diagnostics and safety procedures in a safe, inclusive workshop environment.
Adapt instruction based on EHCP (Education, Health and Care plan) requirements, learning styles and emotional needs.
Promote and embed life skills, employability and functional skills (English and Maths) into sessions where appropriate.
Foster a supportive learning environment that encourages positive behaviour, self-confidence and resilience.
Monitor and track learner progress using clear assessment tools, reporting regularly to line managers and support staff.
Work collaboratively with pastoral, SEN and safeguarding's teams to address individual barriers to learning
Maintain accurate records including risk assessments, attendance, progress reports and incident logs.
Always ensure health and safety compliance in the workshop setting.
Support learners with pathway planning, including next steps into further education, apprenticeships or employment.
Deliver and assess accredited qualifications such as AQA unit awards, City & Guilds and NCFE to support learners' progression and attainment.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of awarding body standards and assessment criteria to ensure compliance and quality assurance
Accurately complete and maintain internal verification paperwork, evidence portfolios and qualification tracking documents.

Experience and Qualifications
Essential
Relevant motor vehicle qualification at Level 3 or above.
Experience delivering motor vehicle education/training in an educational, youth work or alternative provision setting.
Experience working with children and young people, particularly those with SEN.
Ability to adapt curriculum content to meet diverse needs and learning styles.
Strong classroom and workshop de-escalation management skills.
Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with learners and staff.
Knowledge of safeguarding, child protection and health and safety protocols in a practical learning environment.
Passion for vocational education and supporting learners achieve their potential.
First Aid qualification or willingness to work towards
Desirable
Teaching qualification e.g. PGCE, Cert Ed or Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training.
Assessor or IQA qualifications
