An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Capital, Estates & Facilities Department at Cardiff & Vale University Health Board as a Multi Discipline Operative working within the Building Team.
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to support the continual service provision of Building Maintenacne in one of the largest Health Boards in Wales.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
You will be working to ensure all aspects of the building maintenance including external areas are kept to a high standard.
We are looking to recruit someone who will excel in providing a safe, organised and highly efficient service, can be innovative in their thinking and have the ability to make decisions, who can develop and support change in the department and be an integral part of a modern, effective, flexible Estates Team and ready for any challenges.
The successful applicant will have to demonstrate a level of competence in multi-discipline maintenance activities.
You will need to work in close partnership with your Capital, Estates and Facilities colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the service and Estates Operation. You will be key to the success of the Estates Building Maintenance Team.
You will be working on the front line for reactive and planned maintenance work and you will need to be able to work effectively with competing priorities, distractions and on occasion, unpredictable work patterns caused by the operational nature of the role.
You will need to be logical, flexible and have excellent communication skills to support our Estate Teams. The work and primary focus will be to support the Building Team.
Take part in Winter pressures on call duties.

To have a proactive approach to managing the estates and operational
services in the areas assigned to you.
Liaise with departmental/ward managers and external stakeholders on works
in their areas and building relationships in those areas as point of contact.
Works generally unsupervised to undertake the majority of tasks and repair work using own judgement to effect repairs/solutions within capability.
Assist other staff within the department at the request of the team leader.
Work within team supporting and covering others to meet KPI targets and the needs of the service.
Understand the interrelationship between all trades and team members.
Interprets and follows the appropriate regulations at all times.
Immediately notifies the Team Leader of any deviation from the regulations.
To liaise with team leader regarding plant or equipment failures and to
request the supply of goods and/or services as necessary.
Actively participate in operation of planned preventative maintenance
programmes.
Actively participate in all continuous improvement programs.
To follow planned maintenance schedules and if required raise follow on work requests.
Carry out planned preventative maintenance inspections and record
supporting documentation l as necessary.
Undertake essential repair works and general maintenance activities at the
request of the team leader
