The Role
We are seeking a
Multi-Skilled Maintenance Fitter
. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong
mechanical and electrical skills
who is comfortable working independently.
During our busy season, from January to August, overtime is required, including Saturday morning to carry out maintenance outside of normal hours. This typically consists of an additional hour per day and four hours on Saturdays. Standard in-season working hours are 6:00am to 3:30pm, totalling 44 hours per week, excluding Saturday hours.
You will play a key role in minimising downtime with reactive maintenance alongside planned maintenance for all machinery & irrigation systems across the site.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across nursery machinery and equipment
Fault-find and repair mechanical and electrical issues on automated machinery
Service and maintain irrigation and pumping systems
Perform mechanical repairs including bearings, belts, gearboxes, conveyors, and hydraulic systems
Assist with installation, modification, and commissioning of new nursery equipment
Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
Knowledge on re-ordering spare & replacement parts from our suppliers.
Ensure all maintenance work complies with workplace health & safety, electrical standards, and nursery requirements
Maintain accurate maintenance and service records
Work closely with nursery and production teams to support daily operations
Identify preventative maintenance requirements and opportunities to improve equipment reliability
Skills & Experience Required
Proven experience as a multi-skilled maintenance fitter or technician
Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding ability
Electrical or mechanical trade qualification or equivalent hands-on experience
Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings
Comfortable working in humid, wet, and outdoor environments
Strong problem-solving skills and a practical, proactive approach
This role requires the ability to work independently
Good communication and time management skills
Desirable (but not essential)
Previous experience in horticulture, agriculture, or nursery operations
Welding or light fabrication skills
Experience with irrigation systems
Forklift or machinery licences
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
