Overview
Dayton Progress are one of the world's largest manufacturers of high precision Punches, Dies, and Die components for the Press & Mold Tool Industries. We are seeking a multi-skilled Machinist to work in our newly formed machine shop, manufacturing high precision punches and dies to supply to customers on an urgent basis. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude and be proficient in various machining processes. This role involves operating a number of different machines to manufacturing high precision tooling on a "Need it Now" basis to customer demands.
Duties
Operate and maintain various types of machinery including; CNC Lathe, Wire EDM, Spark EDM, Cylindrical, Shape and Surface grinders.
Assemble components according to engineering drawings and company standard specifications.
Manufacture special components to customer drawings
Conduct routine inspections of finished products to ensure quality standards are met.
React to urgent demands from customers and produce high precision parts in a timely manner.
Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform basic maintenance as needed.
Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean working environment.
Manage time independently to ensure urgent customer targets are met.
Finish and pack your own manufactured components ready to ship to customers.
Skills
Proficient in using the following machines (or similar); Mazak CNC Lathe. Sodik Wire EDM, Jones & Shipman Surface Grinder, Retrofit cylindrical shape grinder & Hurco Spark EDM.
Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to understand technical drawings and work to company standards.
Have the ability to work to tight tolerances (within 10 microns)
Familiarity with Fusion 360 or similar CAD/CAM software for producing CNC programmes.
Have the ability to work with mainly hardened tool steels.
Basic maths skills for precise measurements and calculations.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Have very good personal time management.
Be able to manage your own workload and planning.
Be able to react very quickly to customer demands.
