To carry out planned and reactive maintenance, repairs, and refurbishment work across various areas in airport shops ,train station shops and high street stores , with primary responsibility for joinery tasks. Day-to-day work will range from joinery, plaster patching, plumbing, wall tiling, vinyl floor tiling etc.
The role requires proficiency in multiple trades to ensure a swift and effective response to maintenance needs, particularly during night-time operations.
Key Responsibilities
Lead on all carpentry and joinery duties, including first and second fix, installations, repairs to fire doors, partitioning, and the fitting of doors, windows, and furniture.
Perform competent multi-trade work, which may include tasks in basic plumbing, plastering, painting, and tiling to ensure projects are completed to a high standard.
Conduct planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to minimise operational disruptions.
Respond promptly to reactive and emergency repair call-outs during night shifts.
Collaborate with other team members and contractors to deliver projects on time and to specification.
Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations, building codes, and company procedures.
Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and hours logged using a hand-held device for job sheets
Supervise and, if required, mentor junior operatives or apprentices.
Promote excellent customer care, communicating effectively with tenants, staff, and the public.
Person Specification
Experience & Qualifications (Essential)
Continuous 5 Year Work History:
You must be able to demonstrate a continuous 5-year work history with verifiable references for airport security clearance purposes.
Carpentry Expertise:
Proven experience as a multi-trade operative with a strong background and lead-level competency in carpentry.
Multi-trade Skills:
Proven ability to carry out additional skilled work in at least two other trades, such as basic plumbing, plastering, or decorating.
Night Work:
Significant experience working night shifts, with an understanding of the specific operational requirements and challenges of night-time work.
Driver's Licence:
Hold a full, clean UK driving licence.
Airport Environment:
Experience working in a secure or airport environment is highly desirable.
Training & Certifications (Advantageous)
GSAT Certification:
A valid General Security Awareness Training (GSAT) certificate is a significant advantage. This is mandatory for anyone requiring unescorted access to the Security Restricted Area (SRA) of a UK airport.
Relevant Trade Qualification:
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in a relevant trade, such as Carpentry and Joinery.
Safety Training:
Additional safety qualifications, such as a CSCS Card, are beneficial.
