Multi-Trade Operative

Sutton Coldfield - covering the Midlands

\xc2\xa332,406 per year

40 hours per week - Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 16:30pm

Temporary position for up to 12 months

We currently have a vacancy available for Multi-Trade Operative to join our voids and tenanted properties Maintenance team based in the Midlands area. As a responsive operative you will be able to follow a job management system and be responsible for carrying out reactive repairs to our properties, ranging from a leaking tap to renewing a bath, changing a door handle to hanging a new door. The team also carry out void works which can vary from overhauling a window to a full bathroom or kitchen replacement. We also carry out external repairs including fencing and groundworks. Therefore, knowledge or experience in the following skillsets is a must, plumbing, carpentry, tiling, plastering, decorating and glazing.

The role will include both lone and team working so you will need to have good problem-solving skills and be able to work off your own initiative. You will also be required to carry out emergency repairs on an out of hours service on a rota basis. A company van, fuel card, uniform, mobile phone and power tools will be provided for business use along with training as and when required. You will be required to travel around various locations throughout the Midlands dependent on the work stream you are assigned to.

The role of Multi-Trade Operative will include:

  • Attending occupied properties to carry out construction, diagnosing problems, fault fixing and maintenance duties required within a Social Housing environment
  • Taking ownership of jobs by resolving problems or set into motion the means of resolution, ensuring customers and colleagues are kept informed
  • Maintaining a suitable van stock level.
  • Managing materials
  • Providing accurate and timely information on the progress of works that is easily understood by the customer
Skills and experiences:
  • City & Guilds qualification, NVQ 3 or relevant experience in relevant trades
  • Recent experience of undertaking a similar role within social housing is advantageous
  • Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise tasks
  • Skills / experience in the following disciplines is a must - plumbing and carpentry
  • Working knowledge of the health and safety regulations and requirements
  • This role will involve driving on company business. In order to drive a company vehicle, drivers must hold a full valid UK manual driving licence.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to use technology such as smartphones and computers to utilise email and training applications
  • Ability to read works schedules
