The Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts (PQA) is a weekend performing arts school providing tuition in Comedy & Drama, Musical Theatre, and Film & Television. Our mission is to inspire creativity, build confidence, and develop the next generation of performers in a fun, supportive environment.
Role Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic, skilled Musical Theatre Tutor to deliver high-quality sessions in singing, dance, and performance to young people aged 4-18. The ideal candidate is passionate about theatre, confident teaching mixed-ability groups, and able to create an engaging and positive learning atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver dynamic Musical Theatre lessons combining singing, dance, and acting through song.
Teach students aged 6-18 (or 4-5 in our Poppets class, if required).
Prepare students for termly showcases, performances, and annual productions.
Support students' development in technique, confidence, and creativity.
Provide constructive feedback and encourage a nurturing learning environment.
Work collaboratively with other tutors to ensure a cohesive academy experience.
Follow all PQA safeguarding and health & safety policies.
Essential Skills & Experience
Strong background in Musical Theatre performance or teaching.
Experience working with children and young people.
Ability to choreograph routines and teach harmonies where needed.
Excellent communication and classroom-management skills.
A positive, encouraging teaching style.
Desirable
Professional theatre experience.
Teaching qualifications or relevant training.
Experience directing small-scale musical theatre numbers.
First Aid or safeguarding training (PQA can provide this if needed).
Additional Information
This role requires an enhanced DBS check.
Saturday availability is essential.
Competitive hourly rate based on experience.
