We are seeking a Project Officer to join our small team and help care for the Northumberland Coast National Landscape, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and one of England's finest landscapes. You will be responsible for the development and delivery of a brand new and exciting project: Northumberland Coast Dark Skies.
Northumberland Coast Dark Skies is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to secure funds to conserve and connect the nocturnal heritage of the Northumberland Coast National Landscape. Help achieve our vision for the dark skies of the Northumberland Coast to be conserved, now and in the future, for people and for nature.
You will be an energetic and passionate person who will raise the profile of nocturnal heritage, dark skies, tranquillity and the impact of artificial light at night in the National Landscape and the surrounding area. You will be adept at managing an extremely varied project that includes co-ordinating practical work such as monitoring night sky quality and improving nocturnal habitats, and delivering a programme of capital works, but also reaching out to communities, businesses and decision-makers to effect change.
Please note, this vacancy is offered on a fixed term basis until 6th August 2027.
REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB
You will be responsible for all aspects of the project including a budget of 285,000; risk, programme and relationship management; and reporting to funders.
You will co-ordinate and deliver the provision of advice and guidance; training for decision-makers; an engaging volunteering and events programme; monitoring of night sky quality and habitats; as well as programme of capital works at locations across the National Landscape.
You will liaise with a wide range of partners including local Government, landowners, managers and other agencies, and community groups.
