Business Support Assistant - National Police Chiefs' Council

Salary:

The starting salary is 34,808, which includes allowances totalling 2,928.


The salary is broken down as 31,880 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale 34,108. Plus, a location allowance of 1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of 1,000.

THE NATIONAL POLICE CHIEFS' COUNCIL (NPCC)

Communication - by sharing the collective expertise, views and action of UK police chiefs.

National Police Coordination Centre (NPoCC)




NPoCC consists of two core teams - the Operations (Ops) Unit and the Strategic Intelligence and Briefings (SIB) Unit, each led by a Superintendent. NPoCC Ops provides a national coordination function, mobilising mutual aid in support of all UK police forces, Crown Dependencies and British Overseas Territories, the Ops team also manage testing and exercising of over 200 role profiles.


NPoCC (SIB) produce the national public order/public safety strategic risk assessment, collate, assess and develop protest intelligence nationally, and provide strategic intelligence analysis and briefings. NPoCC routinely work with Government Departments and policing stakeholders in assessing policing capacity, capability and concurrency issues.


Recent operations include Operation Navette - the national UK policing response to widespread violent disorder, Operation Zappas - deployment of UK police officers to the 2024 Olympics in Paris, Operation Isoseist - UK policing support to MDP for C-UAS resilience. Additionally, the ACC holds the national portfolio for Civil Contingencies, engaging with a wide range of partner agencies.

BUSINESS SUPPPORT TEAM




Business Support maintains the logistics for the delivery of NPCC strategic meetings including Chief Constables Council, Regional Chiefs and the newly formed Strategic Planning and Coordination Board along with supporting NPoCC with operational and general administration needs. Other responsibilities include supporting the remote workforce for all IT and equipment, HR support, finance, governance assurance, information management and data protection protocols, and host force management duties. The team also work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure the NPCC is able to support Chief Officers in the constantly evolving areas of national policing.

THE ROLE




The successful candidate would need to have the following experiences and skills:

Experience of providing comprehensive secretariat and business support within a public or private sector organisation (including maintaining accurate records, preparation of relevant documentation for use. Knowledge of project management and records and information management is important and an understanding of the structure of UK policing would be a distinct advantage. Knowledge or experience of using office products at an efficient level including SharePoint. Excellent communications and interpersonal skills with the ability to create impact and communicate effectively with people at all levels establishing credibility. Ability to deal effectively with any administrative errors/problems that occur, seeking guidance where necessary to ensure the team administration process is delivered timely, effectively and to the required service. Experience and understanding of working in a confidential and/or politically sensitive environment. Experience of working effectively both collaboratively within a team to solve problems and independently using personal initiative. Desirable - O365 Power Platform: Experience with Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Dataverse would be advantageous but not essential.

Occasional national travel may be required. Travel expenses will be paid if location allowance is not being received, or when travel falls outside of the home to work journey. NPCC will pay for overnight accommodation if required.
