Derbyshire Wildlife Trust is seeking a Nature Economy Officer to spearhead innovative, nature-positive economic projects that will transform Derbyshire.


In this exciting role, you'll be at the forefront of developing ecosystem service markets, unlocking funding opportunities for nature's recovery, and forging partnerships that place nature at the core of a fair, low-carbon economy. Your efforts will directly support the Nature Economy Manager and the Wild Solutions team in scaling financial solutions that deliver clear environmental, social, and economic benefits.

About you

Are you passionate about building a greener economy and eager to be part of a team driving real-world change? We're looking for someone who embodies enthusiasm, innovation, and a commitment to sustainability. You'll bring a balance of strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset.

This role might be right for you if:

You're a natural communicator, comfortable working with partners, clients, and colleagues. You have experience coordinating projects or supporting the delivery of complex tasks. You've contributed to funding applications or research and enjoy working with data and evidence. You have a good understanding of nature-based solutions, ecosystem services, and environmental policy. You're a creative problem-solver, always looking for practical ways to enhance processes. You're confident using standard office software and collaborative digital tools and have experience using spatial mapping software. You have an interest in the policy and market mechanisms driving the growth of nature-based solutions, such as biodiversity net gain or carbon credits. You're a team player who thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.

This role will be based at our office in Middleton although a balance of home and office working will be allowed. We are a local charity so applicants should be easily able to access our office and other locations around the county.
