We are seeking to recruit a Nature Networks Officer on a fixed term basis up until the end of March 2028.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to be part of the Biodiversity Team within Prosperity and Development supporting and delivering exciting local biodiversity work on key biodiversity conservation issues. The post holder will be part of a team that is engaged in a diverse programme of biodiversity work.
As a Nature Networks Officer you will support the biodiversity work of RCT Council through delivery of the Building Nature Networks in RCT project funded by the Nature Networks Programme. The successful candidate must possess a degree in Science, Biology, Ecology or related equivalent qualification.
A key feature of the role will be reviewing, assessing and mapping the role and capacity of existing planning gain habitat management schemes to provide effective support and connectivity for the protected sites network within and surrounding RCT. The post will involve liaison with developers, landowners and land managers as well as site ecology survey work.
You must be creative, with a 'can-do' approach together with a keen eye for detail. You must also have a sound knowledge of the habitats and species context of the South Wales Valleys as well as having an understanding of biodiversity management and raising awareness within the community. A passion for nature conservation work is essential.
