Aspire Foundation are working in partnership with Gloucestershire Gateway Trust and Summerfield Charitable Trust to hire a
NEIGHBOURHOOD CONNECTOR
to bring local people together to build their own strong, connected and caring communities. Join us to unleash the incredible potential within all neighbourhoods; the gifts, skills, passions, local knowledge, energy and inventiveness of ordinary folk. It is a role where your creativity, empathy and belief in human kindness can truly shine!
What is a Neighbourhood Connector?
They focus on uncovering and connecting the strengths, talents and resources already present in a neighbourhood. A key task is building relationships by attending events, visiting community spaces, and talking to people every day. They won't be sat at a desk very often! They map local assets and strengths within people and neighbourhoods which means they can spot opportunities to make connections and support community led initiatives. These could range from organising a large community event with others or linking two isolated individuals together who have a shared passion or interest.
Main Responsibilities:
-
Build Relationships
- Get to know local residents, in particular families, children and young people, understand their needs, and offer support in a warm, respectful way.
-
Offer Guidance
- Help people find and make use of services related to health, housing, education, employment and wellbeing.
-
Community Events
- Help organise and take part in events, workshops, and activities that bring people together.
-
Work with Others
- Connect with local organisations and neighbourhood groups to share ideas and create new opportunities for the community.
-
Link with Partners
- Build positive relationships with a range of partners - including social housing landlords, health services, and local authorities - to strengthen connections and improve support for residents.
-
Support and Speak Up
- Advocate for the needs of individuals and help them find the right support.
-
Keep Records
- Keep clear records about the work you do and share updates with the team when needed.
