An opportunity has arisen within the Neighbourhood Relations Team for a Neighbourhood Relations Officer.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day management of ASB casework in line with our ASB policy and procedures and best practice and Gateshead Council's THRIVE agenda. This will include managing cases involving domestic abuse, hate crime, serious criminality and hoarding.

What you need to have:
To allow you to effectively investigate and respond to ASB reports you should be highly organised and be able to work effectively within a team or independently.
It is essential you possess a good knowledge of ASB tools and powers including non-legal remedies. Further it is expected you are aware how these measures can be applied to help resolve problems.
A key requisite to tackle anti-social behaviour is partnership working; as such you must be able to demonstrate a proven history of effective partnership working including attendance and contribution at multi agency meetings.
Increasingly we are faced with more complex issues and to be successful in this role you must display a creative approach towards problem solving. It is expected that you will have a thorough understanding of vulnerability including safeguarding procedures. You will have knowledge and experience in dealing with domestic abuse victims and perpetrators and the complexities around this issue. Also, you should have awareness of agencies that can assist in addressing anti-social behaviour and supporting customers with complex social needs including mental health and substance misuse.
As a key customer priority your role will be to manage customer expectations in relation to ASB complaints and it is expected you will be able to deal with challenging enquiries and demands which may arise from different sources. You will therefore need to demonstrate that you possess excellent communication and negotiating skills
The role will involve working outside of office hours where required to meet the needs of our customers and service.
You will have a minimum of 5 GCSE's at Grade C or above or equivalent or relevant experience, knowledge of social housing and possess good IT skills. It is also essential that you have experience of working in a customer related environment.
The successful candidates will be required to work at the Civic Centre as well as home working, this will vary subject to the needs of the business. There will also be a required to attend visits in the community and estates where needed.
