Salary



45,000 - 55,000 per annum, dependent on experience Offered initially on a 6-month fixed-term contract (with full benefits)

Role Overview



The Network (AWS) Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day management, optimisation, and operational delivery of customer AWS environments, with a particular focus on cloud networking. This role ensures that AWS infrastructures are secure, resilient, cost-efficient, and aligned with best practices, while delivering exceptional service experiences consistent with IT Naturally's ISO 20000-aligned service standards and B Corporation values.

The key purpose of the role is to

Own operational and networking aspects of customer AWS environments, ensuring stability, high availability, and secure connectivity. Act as a trusted technical partner, advising customers on cloud networking, hybrid integration, automation, and optimisation. Support IT Naturally's 24/7 managed service delivery with proactive monitoring, incident response, and continuous improvement.

Role Responsibilities



Platform & Network Operations

Manage daily operation of customer AWS environments, including compute, storage, databases, and networking services. Design, implement, and manage VPCs, subnets, route tables, NAT gateways, security groups, NACLs, Transit Gateways, Direct Connect, and VPNs. Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise network performance and availability across cloud environments. Ensure resilience, high availability, and redundancy of AWS network architectures. Apply AWS Well-Architected Framework principles, with emphasis on networking, security, and cost optimisation.

Security & Compliance

Implement and maintain network and cloud security best practices, including IAM, firewalls, encryption, monitoring, and logging. Collaborate with IT Naturally's Cyber Security team to meet embedded security standards and customer compliance requirements (ISO 20000, ISO 27001, NIST). Ensure network and platform changes follow IT Naturally's change management processes, with thorough documentation.

Automation & Continuous Improvement

Maintain and enhance Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) templates (Terraform, CloudFormation) for networking and platform deployments. Develop automation for provisioning, patching, monitoring, and configuration of cloud networks. Identify opportunities to improve reliability, reduce manual effort, and optimise costs.

Service Delivery & Customer Experience

Participate in proactive quarterly business reviews, providing recommendations for network optimisation, automation, and cloud architecture improvements. Support incident resolution and technical escalations, providing expert guidance to internal teams and customers. Deliver transparent reporting and updates aligned with IT Naturally's service management standards.

Collaboration & Support

Work closely with Network, Cyber Security, Service Desk, and EUC teams to deliver end-to-end service. Participate in a 24/7 on-call rota to maintain service continuity. Collaborate with customers to integrate AWS environments with on-premises networks and hybrid cloud solutions.

Role Requirements



Required Skills & Experience

Hands-on experience managing production AWS environments with strong networking responsibilities. Deep knowledge of AWS networking services: VPCs, subnets, route tables, NAT, security groups, NACLs, Transit Gateways, Direct Connect, and VPNs. Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and automation scripting (Python, Bash). Understanding of hybrid connectivity, routing, and cloud network security. Monitoring and observability experience (CloudWatch, Zabbix, DataDog, etc.). Excellent documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Desirable

AWS Advanced Networking certification or equivalent experience. Experience with Fortinet or other firewall/VPN integration in AWS. Experience in ISO-certified environments (ISO 20000, ISO 27001). Knowledge of multi-cloud or hybrid cloud architectures. Interest or experience in sustainable, energy-efficient cloud operations.

Interview Process



The selection process consists of three stages:

Psychometric Assessment - to help us understand your strengths and working style. Initial Video Interview - a chance to discuss your experience and motivations. Final Face-to-Face Interview - a formal and in-depth interview with the hiring team.
