Brief Description





Network Delivery Manager - Part Time role 50% (17.5hrs per week)

We are currently seeking a talented Network Delivery Manager to join an established team of Network Delivery Managers acting as Sussex Route's 24/7 Tactical Command during Major/Significant Incidents. Manage the safe delivery of the Sussex Route, as the tactical lead for incident management, ensuring a timely and robust response to incidents during perturbation. Work with the wider Sussex team and stakeholders to meet the differing needs of rail industry customers.


Lead and manage a team of controllers, identifying development opportunities and adhering to applicable competency management standards


Please be aware this role holds a mandatory requirement for the incumbent to hold valid security vetting clearance. Any offer will be conditional on the successful candidate obtaining clearance prior to a start date being agreed.

About the role (External)



Key Accountabilities




1. In the event of a Major Incident or severe disruption to the service, act as tactical commander for management of the incident, directing Control and other response personnel, and be accountable for managing asset rectification through escalation and by co-ordinating resources.


2. Lead and direct the Control team, acting as a role model to improve the culture and capability within Sussex Route Control.


3. Lead the safe delivery of the daily train plan, both during normal train running and disruptive events and in the management of "Very Short-Term Planning" activity.


4. Lead the management of "Safety of the line incidents" in accordance with safety standards and statutory requirements.


5. Lead the Control team dissemination of safety critical and other information. Maintain a system of recording operational safety and performance incident information, in accordance with the relevant company standards, procedures and statutory requirements, to provide safety, performance and management reporting information, at the required frequencies.


6. Support incident reviews by giving appropriate consideration to customer needs, Network Rail and train operators' priorities.


7. Contribute to development and maintenance of up to date operational and safety policies and procedures, relating to train service delivery, control of operations and line management.


8. Manage the integrity of sensitive operational and security documentation.



Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications




Essential




Experience of leading teams within a Control environment, logistics or operations

Excellent negotiating skills and proven decision-making ability with supporting rationales whilst under pressure

Proven ability to manage conflict, influence others and mediate conflicting priorities with multiple stakeholders Knowledge of Network Rail and Train Operating Companies within Southern Region and the key aspects of their operations and performance regime and targets

Understanding of operational rules and regulations

Good geographical knowledge of Sussex Route

Desirable




Previous experience of working within a safety critical Control environment

Geographical knowledge of adjoining Routes

Proven line management experience. Rail Incident Commander (RIC) Tactical Incident Commander (TIC) qualification

Multi-agency Gold Incident Command (MAGIC) qualification

Salary

: 68,614 per annum, (50% pro rata) + 20% Operational Allowance + 1,900 Outer London Allowance

live within a 60 minute commute to Three Bridges Rail Operating Centre. It is not possible with this post to work from home. This is a shift based role requiring both day and night working.
