We are seeking a skilled and experienced Carpentry Supervisor or former site manager to oversee and manage carpentry projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge in carpentry, including knowledge of various construction techniques and materials. This role requires excellent leadership abilities, as you will be responsible for supervising a team of carpenters and ensuring that all work is completed to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Duties
Supervise and coordinate the activities of carpentry teams on-site, ensuring adherence to project timelines and specifications.
Oversee the fabrication, assembly, and installation of wooden structures, frameworks, and fixtures.
Ensure that all carpentry work complies with NHBC building codes and safety regulations.
Conduct regular inspections of work performed by team members to ensure quality standards are met.
Provide training and mentorship to junior carpenters in techniques such as joinery, roofing, and masonry.
Manage the use of hand tools and power tools safely and effectively among team members.
Collaborate with other tradespeople, including electricians and plumbers, to ensure seamless project execution.
Assist in heavy lifting tasks when necessary to support team efforts on larger projects.
Requirements
Proven experience as a carpenter with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
Demonstrated supervisory experience in a construction or carpentry setting is preferred.
Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and machinery relevant to carpentry tasks.
Knowledge of electrical systems is advantageous but not essential.
Ability to perform heavy lifting as required by the job demands.
Strong understanding of building codes, safety regulations, and best practices in construction.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead a team effectively.
