There has never been a more exciting time to work in primary care, and BWM Primary Care Network (PCN) is expanding its Clinical Team.
We are seeking to recruit a positive, caring and self-motivated individual to take on the role and work across our three Practices.
Following the announcement of the new ARRS GP role available to PCN's, BWM PCN are looking for an enthusiastic, newly qualified GP to join our team on a fixed term basis of 12 months. The role will be part of the PCN ARRS and may have the potential to be extended beyond 12 months however this is subject to NHS funding and guidance.
The role will predominantly be based across our three Practices.
Main duties of the job

• Provide face to face and telephone consultations for routine and urgent care.
• Conduct Care Homes and patient home visits.
• Manage patient care within the Practices, including investigating and reviewing results, developing care plans and making the necessary referrals.
• Issue and sign repeat prescriptions, adhering to national and local guidelines.
• Administer and manage patient queries, test results, referral letters and any other duties as required in a timely manner.
• Make clear consultation notes and records using System1.
• Independently prescribe medications within your scope of practice.

BWM Primary Care Network Ltd is a mature PCN that provides enhanced clinical services for three GP surgeries across Whitehall, Hawthorn and Beechtree area, with a patient population of approximately 30k.

Job responsibilities
Professional Development:

• Maintain awareness of clinical practice developments.
• Attend PCN wide meetings and clinical meetings.
• Participate in performance reviews and take responsibility for your personal development.
• Engage in mandatory training and attend courses as required.

Team Collaboration:

• Provide clinical support and guidance to both clinical and administrative staff to maintain the highest care standards.
• Collaborate with health and social care providers to deliver an integrated, safe service.

Risk Management and Compliance:
Adhere to all practice policies and procedures, including those related to prescribing, confidentiality, and data protection.

• Apply infection control measures and manage risks in compliance with local and national guidelines.
• Contribute to clinical governance through audits, peer reviews, and significant event analysis.

Patient Safety and Confidentiality:

• Ensure patient and carer confidentiality, in line with practice policies.
• Manage patient data securely, only disclosing it to authorised persons.

TRAINING, PERSONAL/PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

• Training requirements will be monitored in accordance with PCN requirements. Relevant personal development will be encouraged and supported by the PCN. You will be expected to take responsibility for maintaining a record of own personal and/or professional development.
• Undertake mandatory and statutory training as required and attend courses/ study days as deemed appropriate/necessary.
• Continually review clinical practice, responding to National policies and initiatives where appropriate.
• Participation in an annual individual performance review / internal appraisal and annual external GP appraisal including taking responsibility for maintaining a record of own personal and/or professional development.
• Assess own performance and take accountability for own actions, either directly or under supervision.

QUALITY
The post-holder will strive to maintain quality within the practice, and will:

• Contribute to the achievement of the highest possible quality standards such as those detailed by their regulatory body and the CQC.
• Monitor the safety and effectiveness of own clinical practice through quality assurance strategies such as the use of audit, mentor feedback, case review and peer review. Implement improvements where necessary.
• Understanding of the audit process and of clinical risk management.
• Alert other team members to issues of Clinical Governance, quality and risk. Participate in Significant Event and/or near miss analysis reviews.
• Contribute to the effectiveness of the team by reflecting on own and team activities and making suggestions on ways to improve and enhance the teams performance.
• Effectively manage own time, workload and resources.
• Work in partnership with other clinical teams, collaborate on improving the quality of health care responding to local and national policies and initiatives as appropriate.
• To accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) of QOF.
• Collecting data for audit purposes.

COMMUNICATION

• Excellent communication skills (written and oral), when dealing with patients and other team members. The ability to make clear decisions with confidence and communicate these effectively.
• Demonstrate sensitive communication styles to ensure patients and carers are fully informed and consent to treatment.
• Recognise people's needs for alternative methods of communication and respond accordingly.

• Use developed communication, negotiation and conflict management skills recognising the need for alternative methods of communication to overcome different levels of understanding, cultural background etc.

MANAGING RISK

• Manage and assess risk within the areas of responsibility, ensuring adequate measures are in place to protect staff and patients. This includes the escalation of clinical concerns or appropriate referrals where the management of a clinical situation requires it, or it falls outside of clinical competence.
• Monitor work areas and practices to ensure they are safe and free from hazards, and conform to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines .
• Apply infection control measures within the practice according to local and national guidelines and in accordance with the practice policy.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential

• General Practice experience: Newly qualified GP (within 2 years) or recently completed GP training.
• Must be fully registered with the General Medical Council.
• Communication skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to make confident decisions.
• Professional conduct: Ability to work within professional codes of conduct, ensuring safe and effective patient care.
• Organisational skills: Ability to manage time, workload, and patient related administration efficiently.
• Team player: Willingness to work across multiple practices and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Desirable

• Clinical systems knowledge: Experience with System1 is preferred.
