Night Accommodation Worker

Hatfield, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people?

Do you have experience in youth work, social care, or supporting vulnerable individuals?

Are you committed to delivering excellent customer service and helping to create a safe, secure, and welcoming environment overnight?

One YMCA operates high-quality housing services, and we are looking for a dedicated Night Support Worker to join our committed night team at our Hostel in Hatfield, with relocation to Welwyn Garden City in the near future. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your career within an ambitious, sector-leading organisation where your contribution truly matters.

As a Night Support Worker, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and comfort of our residents overnight.

Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting vulnerable people, drawing on experience in housing, youth work, security, or building safety. Acting as the first point of contact during night hours, providing a warm, professional, and high-quality service to residents. Ensuring the safety and security of the building, including responding to incidents, monitoring CCTV, and addressing resident needs. Delivering excellent customer service, answering phone calls, and responding to resident queries. Providing emotional support to residents who request help or may be experiencing distress. Diffusing tensions or incidents between residents and escalating concerns to the on-call manager when required.

About One YMCA: This is an exciting time to join One YMCA as we implement our ambitious plans to grow our housing services and increase our impact across all accommodation sites.

In 2020/21, we provided more than 185,000 nights of safe and secure accommodation to those most in need. Our specialist support and complex-needs teams deliver over 23,000 housing-related support sessions each year, enabling 992 vulnerable individuals to escape homelessness and 463 residents to move into long-term, settled accommodation.

If you have the skills, experience, and passion to deliver exceptional customer service, support vulnerable residents, and contribute to a positive team culture, we would be delighted to receive your application.

As some of our roles involve working with vulnerable members of society, this position may require a Basic or Enhanced Criminal Disclosure, which will be conducted once a conditional offer is made

Previous Applications: We welcome applications from all qualified candidates. However, if you have applied for a similar role within the last 6 months and were not successful, please consider whether your experience has developed further before reapplying

Accessibility & Adjustments: We are committed to making reasonable adjustments throughout our recruitment process and will strive to be as accommodating as possible. Please inform us in advance of any arrangements you may need to fully participate in the process.
