Position
Care Assistant - Night Shift
Accountable to
Manager/ Head of Care
Objectives
To deliver quality care to the residents of Quebec Hall and to ensure that all areas of the home are clean, tidy and presentable at all times in accordance with cleaning schedules. Also to maintain a pleasant and harmonious lifestyle for residents at all times.
Main Tasks
Resident Care
Assist residents to dress and undress
Assist residents to bathe, including special attention to personal hygiene e.g. hair, nails, eyes etc.
Giving and removing bedpans, urinals and assisting residents on and off the toilet and commode.
Assisting residents in and out of bed
Assisting residents with meals as appropriate
Greeting visitors and escorting them to the residents
Maintaining an awareness of residents needs and helping them to retain maximum independence
Encourage residents to live as active a life as possible
Ensuring privacy for each and every resident
Household Management
Washing and ironing duties plus some kitchen prep for next day to carry out.
Operate all household equipment safely, maintain and store equipment properly.
Report any defects and withdraw faulty equipment immediately
Sweep, scrub, wax and polish floors as appropriate. Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture and curtains. Dust furniture.
Applies cleaning substances in accordance with instructions
Empties waste bins
Attend to residents personal laundry requirements
Generic Responsibilities
All staff should show respect and courtesy to residents at all times to ensure that they enjoy the highest quality of life. They need to respect the confidentiality of residents and their families at all times.
Report any observed changes in the condition of the residents and any incidence of diarrhoea or vomiting (staff or resident).
Be aware of and comply with Quebec Hall's policy and procedures and all statutory responsibilities such as fire arrangements, Health and Safety, COSHH and HACCP procedures
Attend and participate in training sessions and staff meetings.
Maintain good working relations with colleagues at all times.
