Wisteria House Plymstock is a fantastic 20 bedded care home for people living with dementia. We are part of a CQC outstanding group that specializes in Quality of life. We have a generous staffing ration, to include 2 full time registered managers.

We are currently looking for care staff to join our team at Wisteria Care Home in Plymstock. This is a permanent position for 24 hours per week Night shifts, with the option to work bank hours.



We will be looking for experienced care staff who have a kind, caring and dedicated nature in providing person cantered care, in supporting individuals with Dementia. We pride ourselves on providing exceptional care receiving an outstanding CQC rating.



All training will be provided however experience in Dementia care would be preferred.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES



To assist with the delivery of care on a daily basis and to foster an atmosphere of openness, transparency and respect, in which the individuals living at Wisteria House, families, friends and staff all feel valued, safe and that their opinions matter.

Experienced preferred but all training will be provided.

1. To be sensitive to individuals from different backgrounds.

2. To assist other care staff, team leaders and the management team.

3. Liaise with outside agencies such as GP's, social services, hospital staff, in emergency situations during the night.

4. To be able to work off own initiative and have good time management

5. Must present to be a caring approachable person at all times.

6. Communicate clearly with other team members.

7. Be able to complete appropriate documentation, via our care docs system. To include, personal care, any professional visits, activities and any incidents.

8. Communicate effectively with Individuals whilst recognising they may have needs for alternative communication. Including AIS

9. Take responsibility for own personal development learning and performance including participation in supervision.

10. Work with management on any new training requirements.

11. Recognise the roles and responsibilities of individuals working in the team.

12. Be aware of any legal issues pertinent to the health care sector.

13. Identify the risks involved with work related activities and undertake them in a way that manages the risks.

14. Use the appropriate infection control procedures and maintain work areas so that they are clean, safe and free from hazards.

(a) Hand washing.

(b) Hygiene procedures.

(c) Disposal of waste.

(d) Reporting and treatment of sharps spillages.

(e) Dealing with blood and bodily fluid spillages.

(f) Assist service users in adopting infection control methods.

(g) Ensuring the correct PPE is available.

15. Respect service user's privacy, dignity, needs and beliefs.

16. Alert other team members to any risks to either themselves or the service user.

17. Participate in the tea/coffee making requests from service users.

18. Ensure safe storage of hazardous substances such as cleaning products, medication and sharps.

19. Enable service users to access the appropriate professionals in the working team and outside agencies.

20. Read, sign and date policies and procedures in the workplace especially the Safeguarding and whistle blowing policy.

21. Be able to manage time effectively.

22. Maintain confidentiality or information relating to service users, relatives and staff in the work place.

23. Demonstrate an ability to value the opinion of others.

24. Have the ability to cope the occasional exposure to aggressive behaviour.

25. Be flexible and responsive to change.

26. Have the ability to deal tactfully and empathetically with distressed or anxious service users.

27. To abide by the working rotas and discuss any changes you wish to make with the management team.

28. To report any health and safety issues, fire issues, COSHH issues, infection control issues and any other issues surrounding the service users.

29. To participate in the daily routine of the general tidying of the service users rooms, kitchen, laundry and spring cleaning.

30. Ensure time sheets are signed and handed in on time.

31. Any other duties in line with the care of the service users and the smooth running of the home.
