Due to expansion of our Worcester site we are looking to add to the existing team additional Night Hygiene Managers.

Overall Purpose:



The post holder is responsible for the management of two hygiene teams working on the night shift.

The role will operate a 4 on 4 off shift pattern working 6am - 6am.



To ensure that the hygiene teams are cleaning the site and equipment to an agreed specification within the business ensuring safe systems are employed.

You will be responsible for the night hygiene teams across 7 days a week, taking full accountability for their performance during the shift.

You need to have a pro-active approach leading the teams and carrying out any project work.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to health standards within a dynamic food manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities:



People:



Management of the effectiveness of the cleaning schedules and procedures through inspection, audit and swabbing regimes and to investigate and problem solve any issues that do arise to ensure appropriate and timely corrective action is taken. To manage the hygiene teams to ensure all necessary training and personal development is provided To ensure that all new equipment introduced within the business is assessed for hygienic design and implemented after the introduction of the necessary procedures and training To ensure that the hygiene cleaning schedules, established through risk assessment, are in place for all areas of the business To ensure that routine cleaning is effectively resourced and managed over all shifts To ensure that all deep cleaning and periodical cleaning activities are effectively resourced and managed Cover the department manager's role during holidays & sickness. To ensure that all new starters receive chemical awareness training within the first 2 weeks To ensure that the labour budget is effectively managed To ensure that the hygiene department is successfully managed, to implement necessary training and personal development programs Work closely with the production teams to ensure that the correct hygiene windows are in place and the cleaning schedules are achieved to the satisfaction of both parties Working closely with the engineering team to ensure that programs are in place where hygiene and engineers are required to work in conjunction with each other for in depth cleaning of kit To work closely with the technical, production and engineering teams to assess the hygienic design of new equipment and ensuring that all necessary cleaning procedures are in place and schedules updated prior to implementation

Product:



To ensure that the effectiveness of cleaning is monitored through a robust swabbing program, where a system of necessary corrective action is followed through To ensure compliance with all relevant Health and Safety, Food Safety, Quality, Environmental and Hygiene legislation and procedures within the Departments scope of operations To investigate all non-conformance and out of spec results which are generated through the QA department.

Process:



To ensure that the highest standards of food safety are maintained through effective management of cleaning procedures, schedules and implementation of these for both routine cleaning regimes and deep cleaning practices on the site To ensure compliance with best practice is adhered to throughout all hygiene operations. To ensure that the effectiveness of cleaning is monitored through both internal audit and through external bodies (BRC) and any necessary corrective actions are taken in an appropriate and timely manner To manage all documentation required for the smooth running of the department including all hygiene procedures, schedules, swabbing regimes, health and safety data

Plant:



To develop hygiene standards by working closely with chemical companies and developing the existing systems and procedures The management of pest control on site To ensure that all PPE for new starters or visitors is successfully managed by the department To ensure that the stock control of chemicals, consumable, PPE and laundry are managed To develop an environment of continuous improvement to continually maintain the highest standards of food safety Develop, implement, and monitor hygiene policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and legal requirements. Supervise daily cleaning operations, coordinating with cleaning staff to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and effectively. Conduct regular inspections of premises to identify areas requiring attention and ensure high standards of cleanliness are maintained. Train staff on proper cleaning techniques, use of equipment, and safety protocols. Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring availability and proper maintenance. Collaborate with other departments to address hygiene-related concerns promptly. Maintain detailed records of hygiene activities, inspections, and compliance reports. Stay updated on latest hygiene practices, regulations, and innovations in cleaning technology.

Additional Duties:



Relevant Hygiene and Food Safety certification. Ability to ensure the highest levels of health and safety are upheld in line with legislative, quality and moral standards. Ensure Safety Audits are carried out, reports completed and any corrective action implemented Responsible for Accident reports and meeting accident rate reduction levels, accident investigations to be completed within the agreed timescale. Support safety initiatives and lead Team in achieving/exceeding Health & Safety targets playing a key role in ensuring the successful operation of the Hygiene safety committee. Ensure completion and review of risk assessments & Safe Working Practices are carried out encouraging involvement and consultation with the Hygiene team and at all times ensuring consistent approaches to safety systems employing performance measuring, reviewing and implementing corrective action plans. Actively promote safe working practices introducing innovative approaches to ensure consistent safety improvements, analysing business trends and introducing corrective measures.
